Code question regarding AFCI combination types and the 2005 NEC

The 2005 NEC states that combination type AFCI breakers will be required as of 1-1-08. Does this mean that, under the 2005 NEC, said combination types will indeed be required next month (as in, since FL still under the 2005 NEC for the near future, that I'd have to use the combo types in applicable situations, for new work), or does it mean that this rule will apply to the 2008 when / if adopted?

I hope that I worded that in a way that makes sense...

You are safe, Matt. Assuming Florida doesn't do something strange (IMPOSSIBLE!) then the rules don't take effect until the state adopts.

Code question regarding AFCI combination types and the 2005 NEC

Thanks!

Heh, Florida's strangeness wins out here... As I understand it, our code making panel is in an offset rotation from the NEC, and we won't be able to consider the 2008 NEC until 2010. At least that's what I've heard from someone who knows a lot more about this subject than I do. They may be able to amend it in during the in between years, since yearly amendments are allowed, but I don't think that the adoption of a whole new NEC is likely to happen in that way. Hey, it is Florida... I could get surprised.
