Clothing Dryer - Not Getting the Right Voltage

Hi,

Our family was recently displaced by Hurricane Sandy, and once the power came back we began doing some laundry. The dryer was working but not producing any heat. The breaker was not tripped, but i reset it a few times in an effort to fix the problem. Unfortunately that did not work so I had a tech come in an he said it was an electrical problem (after paying him 70 bucks for 5 minutes of work), not an issue with the dryer. Do you think the breaker is bad and needs to be replaced? Any other ideas? I'm handy and trying to save some money...

Thanks,
Dave

Power may be back on but you may be only getting 110 volts to the dryer.
Need a volt ohm meter to check it.

Go buy a volt ohm meter so the guys here can make some suggestion on how to test it or call the power company to come check out there side of it.
If it's a dropped nutral on there side it can distroy anything plugged in to an outlet.

You probab0ly only have power to one of the hot lines feeding your house. It could be you whole neighbourhood or just the drop line to your house.

Are there other receptacles or lights here and there that are dead?

Using an incandescent light are there other receptacles that cause it to light up dimly?

Depending on how bad the storm damage was and still is in your area, one leg is still out. File a ticket with your Power Company.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
