closet lighting

I'm building a walk in closet that I will need to light. I know that NEC dictates that an incandecent bulb must be enclosed but what about low voltage lighting? I figure that it must run cooler than line voltage lights so do the same restrictions apply?

Also, if I were to put something like cans in the celing, is an exposed face of a bulb OK?

Your assumption about low-voltage lighting may not be true. I have found, for example, that 12V MR-16 lamps can get extremely hot. Low voltage does not necessarily mean low power.

Hmmm, what about LEDs ?

perhaps you should read NEC 410.0; 410.11; 410.16 they will help clear this up
