I didn't think AFCI breakers were being routinely installed in 2002.
I think it was originally a regular breaker, during one of my circuit breaker replacements to correct the tripping I went with the AFCI breaker since its better for bedrooms and I thought that it would provide just a little better protection.
Well I have been slowly tracing and troubleshooting this amongst my other projects. I still haven't found the issue, although I do need to correct myself, it looks like all of the outlets and switches are using backstabs. If I still can't figure out what the issue is I will just work on replacing all of the outlets with non-backstabs, I agree with others and have never cared for backstabs myself.
