Buy a $10 multimeter and check the lugs coming in for 240v, and also check the bus bars for the correct voltage after the main.

Nighthawk87.....those outlets that don't work are... most likely protected by GFCI. As i've mentioned before... TEST & RESET those GFCI receptacles.

Changed outlets, half don't work

My first fun wiring project was putting a new cord on an old window A/C unit. I cheerily unscrewed everything and pulled off the old damaged cord. Went to lowes to buy another. Got home and wondered how in the heck I was going to remember where each wire went.

I'm guessing that was OP's problem too.

That's the number one comment we get when we pull stuff apart. "How do you know where everything goes?"

I say "Well Maam, I was just wondering the same thing".

My MO for any repair is to take pictures before and after. But those are funny.

Isn't glorification of personal awesomeness what DIY is about?

I ran CAT5 wires years ago for a company
My friend who still worked there called me almost a year later
They had a network printer that was not working - important
I went over, reached up into the ceiling grabbed a wire
Punched it down, connected & printer was working
I knew almost every wire in the building
