Trying to hang a chandelier in my daughter's room but having problems. My husband tried hanging a different one in her room last week but something went wrong and sparks were flying in the room and the circuits were tripped. I turned them back on and got a new chandelier. Today, I attempted it again. Turned off circuit breaker, attached ground wire to ground spot, attached black to black and white to white. Turned circuit back on and nothing works.... What am I doing wrong?
If everything else is working, and just that portion of the ceiling isn't, then those "sparks" might have "melted" something.
Or, it may be something loose. Check the lightswitch if there is one, and double check the wiring leading to that.
You can get a non-contact tester also, and trace for voltage to see where it starts/stops. Just don't touch ANYTHING when the power is on.
