CFL Problem

Hi guys, first post here.

I've been replacing my incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents (CFL) as they burn out. The other day I went to put one in the laundry room and it won't light. No dimmer on the circuit, just a straight on/off switch. The bulb works fine in other fixtures, and it isn't a clearance problem with the fixture not allowing it to screw in all the way. I put an incandescent in and it works fine, tried the CFL again, and nothing still.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Check the tab down inside the socket to make sure that it isn't pushed down too far and not making contact. Of course make sure the power is off!

CFL Problem

You hit the nail square on the head....

About 2 minutes after I posted I went and looked at it again. I noticed the base of the bulb was bottoming out on the porcelain. I saw that before, but disregarded it because they all do, and it seemed like it was threaded in all the way. I pulled the bulb out and saw the tab wasn't sprung out at all and pushed flush against the base of the fixture. Pried it out a bit and all is well now.

Thanks again, I feel like an idiot now..... Always turns out to be the simplest things.....

I'm glad your light works now. Don't feel bad, that same problem frustrated me once for quite awhile. Glad I could help!
