The conductors from the panel to the AC disco are feeders since the disco contains overcurrent devices.
Feeder.
All circuit conductors between the service equipment, the source of a separately derived system, or other power supply source and the final branch-circuit overcurrent device.
215.3 Overcurrent Protection.
Feeders shall be protected
against overcurrent in accordance with the provisions of
Part I of Article 240. Where a feeder supplies continuous
loads or any combination of continuous and noncontinuous
loads, the rating of the overcurrent device shall not be less
than the noncontinuous load plus 125 percent of the continuous load.
30A breaker requires #10 AWG. The conductors from the fused disco to the unit can be #12.
