centering light fixture

I've removed the "80s" light fixture from bathroom. The box is not centered. Do I need an electrician to install a 3 bulb fixture if it does not cover the existing box? I think there is a stud in the center where I want the new fixture to be. What is the typical electrician fee and is it usually hourly or by the job?

Only way to find out about the permit, is contact your city hall, and as for the job, contact three electricians and have them bid on the project.

How many wires are in the current box? How far off center is it? Is there access from above thru an attic? If its 1 wire, not too far off center and has access...id care you $85.00 to$ 115.00 to move box and install light
