Ceiling light/fan dimming

I have a ceiling light/fan in my in-laws apartment. It's been there a few years, but recently it started dimming on its own. When the light is turned on it's at full brightness, but after a while it dims all on its own; sometimes right away, sometimes after a few minutes.

THe light is on an on/off wall switch. I've checked all the light bulbs and checked that the wiring was tight both ends, everything seems to be ok. A friend suggested the switch might be faulty, so I replaced that, but the problem is still happening. It only seems to be this particular light, so I don't think it's a source or panel problem.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Really need to check the voltage when it dims.
Sounds like a loose nutral wire someplace.

Some fans have a wattage sensing module in them that monitors the amount of power the light(s) consume.

I've seen them go bad after awhile, and then they need to be removed ....

I'm no expert, but this happened to me. First, look at the manual to see if the light kit support the type of lights you installed. For example, some will not accept CFL in place of incandescent. This is what happened to me. Trying to be "earth healthy", I installed the CFL in place of the incadescent and it works a bit at the beginning and then some starts to flicker or dim slowly. Although the CFL has less wattage, but it still won't work. Second, check your bulb wattage. Most light kit won't let you install combination of bulbs that total more than x wattage, 190 watts total for example. If that fails, then look to the electrical troubleshoot. It may just be a very simple troubleshoot so don't go to extreme just yet. Hope this help in some way.

The three most likely culprits are -

1 - Faulty lamp base.
check the contact in the centre of the lamp base,
it could be dirty or losing tension.
(POWER OFF)
Or lamp comes loose from fan vibration.

2 - Faulty load limiter in fan.
replace.
Is it wrong type of lamp !
(check manufactures specs)

3 - Loose / dirty connection.
