We just refinished our ceiling fans and upon putting the first one up, the fan is working but the light are not - clearly the wiring is fine to the fan, but I can't for the life of me figure out why the fan would work and the lights wouldn't. We took the light kit off to make sure it was connected - it's just a basic plug, so it's not a wiring error below the fan and above the lights. Any ideas?
Tell us how you reconnected and we might be able to help. WE can't see what you have and guessing never works.
Is this light fan controlled by wall switches or the pull chains?
Explain more on how it's connected at the ceiling box.
From the fan/light there's typically a shared neutral/white and black for the fan hot and blue for the light hot. Have seen other wiring also but mostly blue/black. If the ceiling is constant hot or one switch operated both the fan and light leads connect to black at the box. If it's individually switched for fan and light to operate separately the fan and light lead would hook to separate hots at the box.
