Ceiling Fan Wiring Assistance

I recently installed a Harbor Bay remote controlled ceiling fan. The light works and is controlled by the remote. The fan does not work. You hear a clicking type sound from the fan when pressing the fan conrol buttons on the remote. My home was built in 1965. There is only a black and white power cord in the ceiling box. I connected all wires according to the instructions. Help!

Sounds like the fan may not be wired from the remote receiver. The receiver will click when it gets the signal from the remote and the light would be wired from a separate line off the receiver. Take a look at the wires from the receiver and make sure you them all going somewhere.

If it is all hooked up then you may have a bad receiver. I have had one fail on me before.

You can wire it without the remote and receiver set up. Did it come with the remote already installed or are you adding it to it?

If you know what wire brings power to the fan and what wire goes to the light you can just wire the two together and then to the hot wire. You need to have the pull chain type switch on the fan to make it work. Does the fan have that or just the remote.
