Ceiling fan wiring

I have power into ceiling fan in a middle of the line run, and have two wall switchs, one that operates fan/light and the other switch that operates an outside light. Both switches draw power from the ceiling box. How do I wire this for operation. It used to work, but I took it down for remodling and now can't figure out how to make everything work properly. Please help! I do know that it had two jumpers in the box, but can't remeber how they were attached.

So, you are saying that you have a Switch Leg for the lights. Easy install.

What are the wire colors in the switch box?

I believe you are saying you have four sets of wires going into the ceiling box for the fan/light. We will call the wires that have power Romex A, the wires that go to the SWITCH for the fan/light Romex B, the wires that go to SWITCH the outside light Romex C, and he wires that go to the outside LIGHT Romex D. You must first figure out which wires are A, B, C and D.

1. Turn off power.
2. Connect all of the ground wires by twisting them together.
3. Take the black wire from Romex A and connect it to the Black wires from Romex B and Romex C. Cap those three wires together.
4. Wrap black tape around the white wires of both Romex B and Romex C. The reason for that is the white wires will be hot after going through the switch and white wires should never have "hot" on them. So make them black by using electricians tape or heat shrink.
5. Connect all white wires (except the ones with black tape on them) together and cap them. You will also want to connect the white wire from the fan to the white wires. Here you will have connected the white wires of Romex A, Romex D, and the light/fan.
6. Connect the white wire you placed black tape on from Romex B to the black and blue wires of the ceiling fan/light.
7. Connect the white wire you placed black tape on from Romex C to the black wire of Romex D.
8. Install fan.
9. Turn on power.
10. Check for working lights.

Unless one of the cables is 14/3.
