Question

Ceiling Fan turns on porch light

I installed a ceiling fan in my family room and now when I switch the fan from Hi to Medium the motion sensor light on my back porch turns on. It does not happen when I switch the fan from Med to Lo, but happens some of the times I switch from Lo to off. There is no line of sight (or reflected line of sight) between the fan and the light. The fan and the light are on the same circut. Any Ideas ?

Ceiling Fan turns on porch light

Is there a slider switch for controlling the fan speed, or are you using a pull-chain on the fan? If it's a switch, how did you wire it?

I'm useing the pull chain to control the fan. There is a standard wall switch that is always in the on position.

The wall switch doesn't effect the outside light, though, right? It just switches the fan off and on.

Yes the fan and porch light are on seperate wall switches. The porch light switch is on all the time also because it has a puotocell and motion sensor.

P.S. going to work, will check in later
