Ceiling Fan Troubles

We just installed a new ceiling fan where the old one was. The lights work and the fan does not. They are both (blue & black wire) connected to the black wire as per instructions. The old one did the same thing that is why we bought a new one and now the same problem. We did the reset with the breaker box. Any help greatly appreciated.

Ceiling Fan Troubles

How many white wires? All of them if there is more than one, should be connected to the white from the ceiling.
