Ceiling fan spins but no lights

Just moved into a new house and removed the old working light fixture for a fan with lights. The fan has a green wire black wire white wire and black white striped wire. I hooked it all up to the ceiling white to white. Black to black green to green and black white striped to red. I assume the green is ground white is circuit the black is fan and black white is light. After hooking it all up the fan spins and turns on off from the switch but no lights. I took the fan off and checked the wiring and also swapped the fan and light wires to see if both were good. The fan works with the other wire now but still no lights. I replaced the bulbs too. Also I opened the switch on the wall and the switch to the fan has 3 wires including the bare metal ground and the left switch for the lights has only 2 including bare metal but I didn't see any loose wire in there to put in. If that's the issue. Any suggestions. It seems the problem is within the fan but I'm not sure how to trouble shoot any further. Even if that switch is bad. When I swapped wires. The good switch should have done lights and no fan. Also the fan is a hunter 22570

How were the wires connected to the working fixture?

It was hooked up white to white green to green red to red and the black was capped off. Like I said before. I know black and red wires are hot for lights and fan. And I've tried swapping so both wires in the ceiling check good for power since the fan spun when hooked up to either

Did you try pulling the pullchains on the fan?

If the fan will run when connected to either the red or the black but the light never works then the neutral for light is missing somewhere.
