Ceiling Fan Speed Control

I have a 2-wire, 5 speed, transformer based ceiling fan motor control; the Black wire is labeled F, and the White wire is labeled L . The fan it controls is 56 inch, 3 metal blades, with no light. What is the proper way to wire this?

what do the instructions say?

Just assuming, I would say wire labeled "F" goes to the fan, and the wire "L" is the line side.

Connect the two wires (F&L) to the supply and pull the chain to select the desired speed. Seriously. Look at the wiring diagram.

Now, that would be too hard, especially that you have the Internets to do it for you.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
