ceiling fan remote coming on by itself

We had an electrician install 2 ceiling fans with remotes. Both come on by themselves at different times. Sometimes the light, sometimes the fan. Any ideas?

Most likely the receivers are either bad, or picking up stray frequencies. Could try by disconnecting one, or both, and see what happens. If they are not on different channels, or there is a older type of cordless phone, or even near a airport, military base, or ham operator, it can cause this type of behavior.

How close are you to your neighbors?

Usually this is an indication that the remotes need to have the frequencies changed, since one or more of your neighbors is probably turning on his fan, and yours is responding to his remote.

Betcha you are wrecking havoc with his fan(s) as well!!

No one lives within 1/4 mile of the house.

The electrician had to cut the original light kit wires and install different light kits and remotes. I'm thinking the connections may need to be checked, but just wondered if anyone had any experience. I can exchange the remote kits, just not likely I got 2 bad ones.
