ceiling fan with remote

Hey guys, we're about to buy a ceiling fan for the master bedroom. The wife would like a remote control so we can turn the fan off and on from the bed but it seems like the light switch will not work if you have your fan on a remote control. Everyone says that it is a real bummer trying to find your remote when it is pitch black so you can turn on the lights.

There is a 14/3 wire going to the fan currently from the switch. Is there any way that I can control the fan from the bedside AND the switch?

Yup. Get one with both controls:
Switch it on from the wall, turn it off from the nightstand....

Search Lowe's for item #179384.

You won't need to use all the conductors in that 14/3, only a 14/2 is required.
