ceiling fan lights don't work
I just moved into a house that has ceiling fans w/lights. one ceiling fan w/lights in the room doesn't work. I've tried changing the light bulbs themselves to no avail. The fan works but the lights don't.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong. |

Could be many things, an open wire in the light part of the fixture, overheated and burned out sockets, etc.
If it were me, I'd cut the power, open it up and look inside. There's obviously power up there, just not everywhere you need it to be. DM

Just covering the obvious stuff here: does it have a pull-chain switch on it that's turned off? Usually they have a pull chain switch even if there is a separate switch on the wall to control the lights. Both switches have to be on.

Yes pull chain is on as well. Do you think it's the switch or the ceiling fan w/lights shorting out the light bulbs?

Are there separate switches on the wall for light and fan?

Is the "dimmer" controlling both the fan and the fan light?

Good, we can rule out a separate switch problem then.
This seems to narrow it down to an open connection inside the fixture somewhere, most likely. DM

If you have a dimmer on the wall controlling a ceiling fan then that is the problem.

COULD be the problem, if there is one, ......he did not say the wall switch was a dimmer.

Dimmer on wall switch doesn't control fan only lights.

uh-oh..... yes it does.... If that switch is the only one, brric is most likely correct.
