Ceiling Fan Light Switch Replacement

Help! I need to replace the pull chain for the light in a ceiling fan. I purchased a new one, but how to I get the socket out of the fan so that I can replace the wiring into the top of it..... does someone have directions, please......?

There should be three or four screws that hold the whole canope in from the sides of the light kit on the fixture. Make sure power is off. Use a pencil or some tape to mark which way the kit is aligned. Remove the screws from the side of the light kit and the whole thing should drop down.

You may find a quick connect plug here so that you can take the light kit down and work on the pull chain on a table or work bench. If not there may be wirenuts just be sure to make a note of how they are wired.

just a quick note, i think is worth mentiong. make sure the switch u install for the light/lights on the fan is rated at the same amps. all the pull chain switches look very much alike on the outside. i bought a light switch for my ceiling fan, and didnt realize it was 3amp, til i got it home and took it out of the package! i neeeded a 6amp switch! thats my mistake for not looking when i bought it, but, it happens, so LOOK before u buy!
