ceiling fan and light stopped working

Kitchen ceiling fan with light all the sudden just stopped working.
It's controlled by a light switch on the wall and pull chain.

The sink light is also on the same light switch and it works.
The ceiling fan is on the same circuit as other outlets.

I looked for loose wires behind the wall switch plate but all appeared ok.
Should I take down the ceiling fan and look for loose wires as well?

Any other suggestions before I call an electrician?

Thanks,
DK

Considering those fans vibrate and shake, I'd sure take 10 minutes to drop its canopy and look for a loose connection, or pay someone $150 to do the same.

EDIT: Are ya aware that you probably don't have to take it all the way down. The canopy (cover plate that goes over the ceiling box) should drop down allowing you access to the wiring...(most all fans, but not all I'm sure)

Good luck

I'll definitely do that. I'll post pics if something looks questionable.
Thanks,

Find out how many cables (and their corresponding wire colors) are going through the fan/light box. You may have to take the fan down for this.

You may want to check first at the kitchen sink light to see if there's a loose wire feeding the fan from there.

Since you said that both lights and fan work off one switch, the feed for the fan could come from the switch box, or from the sink light. It could also start at the fan box. Several scenarios. Be prepared for some frustration.

Wow, I got it to work!
I reattached all of the wires again on those electric caps.
Blue and black wires were on one cap and white was on the other.
Something must have got loose which makes sense considering it's a moving fixture.

It took about an hour.

Thanks guys!
