Ceiling fan just stopped working

I've had my Hunter remote control ceiling fan with light kit installed and working for almost a year and a half now. Went to bed last night with the fan running. My wife woke up during the night and turned it off with the remote. When we got up this morning none of it, fan or light, would come on. I figured the batteries in the remote had just died so I tried replacing them but it didn't work. The light on the remote lights up when buttons are pushed but the ceiling fan/light doesn't respond. Any ideas?

Is the remote receiving unit integral to the fan or is it an add on after market control.

Guess you're sure no one just turned off the fan pull chain.

Ya don't have a wall switch also on the fan do ya. (I do because our remote is an after market deal.... my wife didn't know that when I was away on business one time)

The remote receiving unit is integral to the fan.

As high as our ceilings are, it would take a major effort to turn it off at the pull chains..... especially in the middle of the night with me sleeping in the bed directly underneath it!

Yes there is also a wall switch. I verified that it was on and tried turning it off then back on.

I also checked the breaker to confirm that it had not gotten tripped.

Sorry... just one more idea (I have no idea how the electronics in those things work) but you might try to take the remote apart and see if the push button contact for on has gotten crapped up or pushed down to far.
I had that happen on a TV remote and just bent up and filed the contact and kept it out of my son's hands, and it came right back working.

Good luck

the remote may need to learn to see the fan .Did you save the paperwork on syncing the fan sensor to the remote? On some it is as simple as holding down the on button until the light blinks.

OP's fan lights are working and may be difficult to test supply as the remote is integral in the fan, and I think the fan is pretty inaccesable.

But, maybe he will have to drop the fan to test it/ or replace it.

Look at or look up the instructions for the fan and remote. I'm betting that the fan has to "re-learn" the remote because the batteries went dead and there is a process that has to be followed. This would be typical as a house could have mutiple fans units and you don't want to be turning them all on or off with a remote to the bedroom.
