ceiling fan

the lightswitch controls an outlet. there is one black and one white wire coming into the switch box on the wall. i want to replace the single switch with a double switch and have one switch give power to the outlet (as was before i started this whole thing) and the other switch give power to the ceiling fan. i will work the cords of the fan separately and just want power to the fan and light from one switch. i need a digram of how to attach the wires currently coming into the switch box and the new wires (12-2, white black and ground) i've attached to the fan and brought into the existingswitch box.

You do not have a neutral in your switch box. You have a constant hot and a switched hot. You will need to get power from another box in order to power your fan.

If you do not want the receptacle switched you can use the switch box as a source of power if you make some changes to the receptacle wiring.
