ceiling fan

I would love to.put a ceiling in my living room but my husband isn't anxious about climbing into the attic to anchor it. He's not really that handy. I was wondering if a fan could be hung like light fixture, by a chain. Have to saw hole to wire then hang fan. Obviously, the ceiling would have to have a joist to hang chain
n with cord near outlet.

ceiling fan

Sorry that won't work---the twisting of the fan on start up will cause trouble.

There are special boxes with an expanding screw bracket thatcan be instaled from below, through the hole you cut for the box.

However, you must still go up in the attic to wire it.

Have you called an electrician?
