Can't remove bathroom light fixture.

I'm trying to remove the light fixture in my bathroom but strangely see no way to remove it. There's nothing obvious about how to dismantle and remove it from the wall - no screws or anything to twist off. The only thing I see is a tiny hole on the stem of the fixture that looks like it may be a hex socket(depending on the light, it can look either hexagonal or circular). I've tried using a couple of hex keys but if it is in fact a hex socket its size in somewhere between 5/64 and 3/32 and I don't have anything in between those two. For some reason I'm skeptical that the tiny hole/socket is the key to dismantling the fixture, but I haven't seen any alternatives so far.

Has anyone ever worked with a light fixture like this or have an idea of how to get it off of the wall?

You should be able to unscrew the fixture from it's bracket, just twist the whole thing counterclockwise. Do you have any intention of saving this fixture? Personally, I'd just smack it with the big hammer until it's down.

If you want to save it, remove that tiny allen screw and see if that brass piece moves. My guess would be that the brass piece slides back, then the cover piece can be pulled back, then the two nuts can be loosened so they're not jammed together, and then the threaded nipple oughta unscrew.

But like I said, if that sounds like too much screwing around, I haven't yet encountered a light fixture that can't be removed with a large hammer...

Your last picture shows to nuts behind the plate on a threaded rod. Loosen the two nuts as one is acting as a locking nut this will help you unscrew the rod out, be careful as there are wires in the tube which will twist. Then you will have enough room to unscrew the back pate and expose the wires to remove them. Please have your power to that light turned off.

remove the set screw--
slide the collar forward--
slide the escutcheon --forward---
use a stubby screw driver to remove the screws holding the unit to the box.

Ah dang, somehow the simple "just unscrew the bracket" solution slipped my mind. Guess I'm getting too used to just using the big hammer
