Can't get the master circuit breaker properly seated
I was changing a breaker in a panel and noticed that somebody had put the master circuit breaker in the wrong location. Instead of being on both prongs for the main circuit breaker it had been installed so that one clip was on a mains prong and one clip was on a standard clip.
I moved it into what I thought was the proper location and I just couldn't get it to hook properly under the clips in the panel.
Is it possible that somebody had used the wrong circuit breaker? Is there a special circuit breaker for a mains location? Maybe I just wasn't using enough force to overcome the force of the copper cable that was pushing the circuit breaker away from the brackets. It was a 100 amp circuit breaker.
I didn't find label identifying the panel brand but it was compatible with Murray circuit breakers.
Witout pics, we may not be able to help you, because there are many types of breakers and panels.
