easiest way to fish wire between floors for can lights and do least drywall repair

Tie a string to cat's tail, put cat in ceiling thru one hole -- cat runs out of other hole.

Way too vague of a question. Too many variables involved. Type of building construction? Age of building? Balloon framed? Ceiling strapped? Chimney chase? Vent pipe chase?

Every situation is different. There are many different techniques that I use, all depends on the factors I stated above and probably a few others that I can't think of now.

All it depending on the type of structure you have and how it layout { the joints and stud line up }

some case it will be easy shot and some don't.

OT: (Live) mice are sometimes used to pull threads through conduit which thread in turn helps pull a rope and then a cable through. I assume the mice are trained in advance back at the shop.

Stop wasting time re-adjusting the pattern. Have several lawn sprinklers, one for each pattern.
