Can NM come in contact with ductwork from residential kitchen range hood?
Hello,
I would like to install a ducted 30 inch range hood in my residential kitchen. Currently there is not ductwork. I would like to run a 3.25x10 flat duct inside a kitchen wall to accomplish this, however there is existing NM electrical cable inside the wall cavity that I would like to use. Is it acceptable for NM to come in contact with ductwork from a residential kitchen range hood? Thanks! |

NM must be protected from physical damage. If it were me, I'd find some way to separate the two. Can you put a furring strip in between the duct and the wire?

Thanks for the reply. There is one tight section that only has about 3/4 inch clearance. But there would still be room to protect the wire in some way. I read in another post from a similar question a suggestion to put in a strip of insulation.
