Can I put a 3 wire romex into a 2 wire

I have a bathroom exhaust fan that has only 2 wire romex out of the ceiling. I want to install a fan with the heat and light and it requires a 3 wire connection. Can I put a 3 wire on the 2 wire? The bathroom is on the other side of the house so I am not sure where to run this to the fuse panel. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Is this a heat lamp, or resistance heating?
If it's resistance heating it will require a 20 amp dedicated circuit.

If at first you don't succeed .... do not work on live electrical

How hard would it be for you to pull a run of 12/3 Romex or AC up to where the unit will be in the ceiling, and where the switches are, along with 12/2 from the panel to the switches, or to the fixture, then use a "Switch" leg from the fixture to the switches?

If the direction require two separate circuits for the unit then you must install it that way. Code requires all devices to be installed according to manufacturer directions.

The junction box on the unit is very small. I would not try switch loops from the fan.
Answers based on the National Electrical Code. Local amendments may apply. Check with your local building officials.
