cable clamps

Installed an octagon box that did not have any cable clamps for nm cable on it for a bathroom light. To install the cable clamp should the ring be on the inside or outside of the box? Drywall finish. Thanks.

What ring? The lock nut should be on the inside of the box.

cable clamps

You install the connector from the outside, you then tighten the ring around the threaded part of the connector on the inside of the box.
