I'm going to mount a new meter main on the outside of the house of the attached garage mounted to the T-111 coated 2x4 stud wall. When mounting the cable clamp shown below, do you want the screws on the inside of the panel or on the outside (buried in line with the T-111 siding)? If they are on the outside, that likely means a bigger hole cut in the T-111.. Do you even need to use this clamp, or would a plastic ring be better or can you just use a smaller wood hole to protect the sheath of the cable and basically use nothing in the panel to secure the cable? Please give me your comments..
