recently bought a minisplit A/C (230V), that has stopped working, while checking the line voltage I am only getting 201-203V at the unit and the same reading in the main breaker panel, why so low?.... i am getting 115-117V on eack leg to neutral so shouldnt i be getting somwhere near 230V across both legs.
could it be con-edison lowering the power during a 90 drgee day in NYC w/ almost 100 humidity w/ everone running thier a/c's?
If the power feed is overhead, there'll likely be 3 transformers on the pole. If it's underground, you'd need to look inside the transformer. But it's locked up; as it should be.
The meter is another clue. If it says 240 volt, it's 120/240 single phase. If it says 120 volt, it's 120/208.
thanks, that explains a lot....buck boost transformer it is
