bypassing the compassator on a 5.5 electric motor


how do you bypass the compassitor on a 5.5 motor on a craftsman aircompreesor

on the left.
I imagine the capacitor is to start the motor and without it, the motor will not start.
Why do you want to bypass it?
A motor person may have another perspective to offer.

You could simply connect the two leads together, but it will not start without a capacitor.

If it has two capacitors, it won't start without the start capacitor, and it might start without the run one, and if it does, it'll run at reduced HP and higher amperage.

In short, the motor needs its capacitor(s) in order to run properly.
