Bus Distribution Box???

I'd like opinions and suggestions about electrical distribution. We're in the process of building our own house. One of the things I hate to see is the wiring snake pit for branching out circuits.

In my younger days I was a helicopter mechanic/tech inspector, and I remember main circuit wires going to a box with bus bars insulated from the box, branching into sub-circuits from there.

I guess in an AC current setup you would have three bus bars (hot, neutral, ground), and you would branch out to light and receptacle circuits from there, with no snake pit and a bunch of wirenuts. Wire connections to the bus bars are with ring terminals to the bus bar screws

I have searched for something like that, with no success. Does it not exist, or does code forbid such a setup?

There is really not a need for such a box when wiring a house. All of the circuits in the house will originate at the breaker panel.

Splices in various circuits are made up in junction boxes that normally hold switches, receptacles, and lighting fixtures.

The closest legal thing I can compare to what you've described is a main service disconnect with various sub-panels (with branch circuits originating from them) throughout the house. In the homes I inspect, it is not uncommon to see several panels and sub-panels in a single home.
