Buried Utilities - Electrical / Cable / Fiber Optic


Some utilities have a policy of running your service a certain distance from their existing lines into your property (aboveground using poles)on their dime. Around here I think it is max of 200 ft.

If you end up needing their primary underground and having a pad mount transformer where it exits at your dwelling, be prepared to install it to their specs - might require 4 inch conduit, long raduis sweeps, etc. They might require that they do the work at your cost, or have your contractor do it and they will inspect the installation.

Best bet is to contact your power company in the beginning...
