Bulb wattage

I have an outside light that says 60 watt max. If I use a 100 watt CFL bulb that only uses 23 watts is that o.k. ?

It will be fine, just make sure your cfl is marked for outdoor use or it may not light in the cold.

the 60w limit is because of the heat created, i believe, so i think you should be fine as the cfl's are cooler in use, and use less watts.
but what do i know? listening to me has been known to cause hearing loss, genital warts, and foot fungus. check with your doctor first.

The 60 watt limit is for the actual wattage not the equivalent light wattage advertised on CFLs. The 23 watt CFL is fine for that fixture.
