Bulb keeps burning out

I have a light above the shower that I have replaced a few times within the last year or so. It is a regular incandescent and is not over the rating for the fixture. I didn't install the fixture, but believe it is intended for use over the shower. This morning it did a high/low type strobe effect before going out. Any idea why it is burning out frequently? Thanks for the help!

Check for loose connections inside the can, and at the switch.
Also check the center tab of the fixture.

A good way to tell if a buld is burning for reasons other than age....look at the glass of the bulb...is the inside covered with what looks like a dark gray coating? (assuming it's not a frosted bulb).

If you see a gray coating...that is the tungston deposit on the inside of the bulb....indicating that it's a somewhat normal failure....

However, if the bulb is clear, then it indicates either a mechanical failure (cheap manuf) or bad ac connection causing excessive cycling of the filiment.
