Built in cabinet range hood

Hi Guys!

I don't know which subforum this topic best fits in so I'll try this one.

Some newer houses have range hoods where it is built into a cabinet. There are some of them that are tapered and look like big suction machines but I'm talking about more of a low profile unit that mounts into the underside of a cabinet, nothing fancy - just a light and exhaust.

I've found a few of these online but they are over $500.

Am I not searching the right terms to find what I'm looking for? If I could find a standard $30 range hood at the home center with the knobs on the underside I could easily hack it into a cabinet but they make all of those with the knobs on the front.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Not sure...but you might want to try the Kitchen & Bath Remodeling Forum. I bet they'll know.

Rich,
The built in hoods you mentioned usually don't come cheap. They are built with stronger fans, fancier buttons, etc. They normally end up on higher end kitchens.

That's what I was starting to gather that since the only ones I could find were high end.

Looking over the one in my current kitchen I'm thinking I can probably buy a cheap one and move the controls to the underside so I can build a cabinet around it.

Thanks
