Bringing 220 volt dryer receptacle upstairs...
I have a 2 story colonial house. I want to bring the washer and dryer from the basement upstairs on the second floor hallway where the bedrooms are.
The house was built in 1918 and I don't see any way at all to pull wire from the basement to the second floor. Aesthetics aside, can I run the wires from the breaker box in the cellar, outside my house, and then into the wall where the dryer would go? Note: there is plumbing and drain in the area so I don't think plumbing will be a problem. |

Yes you can, but, it needs to be in conduit for that outside part. This job may be more than you know how to do. What electrical experience do you have?
Might be easier to mount boxes on the floor near the baseboard. |

I have gutted a porch and added electrical cuircuts and GFI's to that room, and also I ran new cuircuts from my basement through pipe and into my garage which I wired with about 8 receptacles. That's the extent of my knowledge though. It's probably not condoned on these boards but I learned electrical by reading a book and following the rules of the local codes. |

Often times wires can be fished next to the plumbing lines. Have you looked at following those?

Do you have a closet on the first floor below where the dryer is going? I think there would be a better way to run the wire inside than to run it outside.
If you have an inside wall under where the dryer is going you can cut one small hole in the drywall and use a long(52") flex bit to drill a hole down and up and fish the wire. |
