Breakers and Wire

I am adding a 15 Amp and a 20 Amp circuit to a panel. The 15 Amp run is about 300 and the 20 is around 600. I was going to use 14-2 and 12-2 respectively, but a Plunber told me that with a run that long needs 10 or 8 wire which left me scratching my head. I am running power to Baseball scoreboards and would like to use the smallest wire due to the length of the pull. (Specs on the boards call for 15 Amp & 14-2)

We need to know the actual load.
A 10 amp load at 300 feet requires #6 copper to get less than 3% drop.
A 15 amp load at 600 feet requires #2 copper to get 3% drop.

If the length was 100' or less 15a and 14-2 might be an acceptable choice. The length you need causes voltage drop which requires a greater size than listed.
