Not sure why it is black, but this sounds like a junction box. Maybe it was painted black. There is a short in the BX wiring in the box, before tripping the breaker, this would account for the buzzing. You'd be lucky if this is where the problem stops.

No, the breaker is not worn out. It's doing it's job. It's keeping you house from burning dowm.

You have a short circuit somewhere. The only thing you can do is unplug everthing on the circuit and turn off all the lights and see if it still trips. You can also look for obvious things like exposed wiring and things that have been added by non professionals over the years.

You can open the cover carefully on the black box and see what's in there.....unless it's the meter can

You need to call an electrician. He will figure it out pretty quick.

Is it a transformer? My doorbell transformer buzzes all the time. ZZZZ.
