Bought a new house built in 1962, all plugs are two prong

The original style of cable commonly called BX did not have the bond strip and cannot be used as a grounding means. Newer type AC cable has the bond strip and can be used as a grounding means.

The bond strip was commonly back wrapped in the spiral of the metal sheath.
