Blown Light Switch

I have a light switch in my garage that has blown out twice in the last few months. This light switch turns on a light that also has an outlet in the base of the light that is not controlled by the switch. The outlet constantly works, but the light does not work once the switch is blown. I was unaware switches could stop working in that manner, but now two have stopped working in a short period of time. Is there possibly a grounding issue?

If you have any information as why this would occur, please help! I don't mind paying $1.00 for a new switch, but I have a feeling there is a different problem here.

Blown Light Switch

Is this a plain toggle switch or a dimmer switch? I can think of no reason a plain toggle switch to blow out other than defective switch.

Blown Light Switch

Could be a loose neutral at the box?

Blown Light Switch

Yeah, just a plain toggle switch. I think the neutral could be the problem, I'll have to go through and check. Thanks-I'll try a new one and see if it works better.
