oberkc;504350]Yeah, right! I wish all the electricians who wired my house followed that rule! I am amazed at amount of crap in EVERY box I opened at my house. I just figured that vacuuming electrical boxes was another area that a DIYer was willing to do but not worth the time for the professional electrician.
It's not a matter of willing to do. It is a matter of doing it to be code compliant. I am more than willing to spend every dollar you have doing things to abide by the code when you hire me to do work and I don't even ask if you want something done that code requires. When it comes to a matter of choice, then I ask if you want me to spend your money on it.
I won't say I vacuum but I do clean out the boxes and I can guarantee there is no conductive material floating around loose in the box regardless what else I might miss.
It's simple a matter of professionalism.
Some people like belts and suspenders. Just in case.
actually, I do wear both. I have the suspenders that hook under your belt (Perry brand). They won't work without a belt so I must wear both to be able to use my suspenders.
