Best way to cover up old ceiling electrical socket?

Hi all, thanks for reading this thread..

In our basement there is a hole on the ceiling which seems to be a old light bulb Hard-Wired Ceiling Socket or something, see this photo:

What's the best and safest way to cover it up? With a plastic cap or something?? Thoughts or comments? Thanks!

First you to find out is there's still live wires in the box.
If there is you have to use one of these so someone can get it it.

If there's no long wires in it you can use a round drywall papth and cover it up.
