Beachfront Cottage On Stilts

I can't find this anywhere. If it is a repeat, I apologise. I have a cottage on the beach. It is on stilts and the underside is completely exposed to the elements. I am currently upgrading the electrical from the 1954 wiring to something a bit safer. How do I properly route wiring underneath the cottage? Does it need conduits? Is normal Romex good enough? Is the metal sheathed wire what I need? Please help the idiot!

Can't say I know NEC on this, but newer houses in NC's Outer Banks where we rent usually have all wiring run inside walls, or in plastic conduit if run outside. Metal corrodes in sea-spray air. Trouble I have seen is some electricians run plastic conduit where it can be smashed by a car parked under house, car door, boat tie-down, or whatever, leaving exposed wires.

Romex can not be run outside in any way even if it is conduit. You will need to use wet location wiring methods. Conduit would be my recommendation, However I think u might be able to use UF
