bathroom light stays on constantly!!

I am installing a decora double rocker switch (single pole) to control new bathroom lights and a new fan. Nothing fancy, no dimmers, night lights etc...I just want simple "On and Off".

I have a power source, white, black & ground
new wiring for fan white, black & ground
new wiring for lights white, black and ground as well

the neutrals are all tied together and capped off, ground is installed to the green ground screw on the bottom of the switch

the top switch is for the lights and the bottom is for the fan, ok so far so good.

the hot is connected to the top right (black screw)
the other 2 black wires are connected to their designated "legs"
top gold screw for the light and the bottom gold screw for the fan

when I turn the power back on, everything worked, but......the bottom rocker switch turns the fan on and off as its supposed to, but the top rocker switch doesnt do any thing. The bathroom lights are constantly powered!!

I thought it was a bad switch, went out and got another one. same thing!!!

Any help would be great

You have the switch wired wrong. Post a make and model number or an image of the switch.

I found a picture of the switch. I think it is a basic standard basic Leviton/Decora double rocker single pole. Hope this helps.

The 2 terminals closest together should share the feed, left side of your picture. Then the two right terminals top and bottom should be for the light and fan....one for each. I'm assuming your power comes from the switch box...is that correct?

Power is comming in from top of the switch box.

light connected to top left
fan connected to bottom left
incomming power source connected to the top right
ground connected to green bottom right
3 neutrals tied together & capped in box.
wow a photo makes it so much easier!

The fan portion works fine, turns on and off as its intended to (bottom rocker). The top switch is constantly powered and the top rocker doesn't do anything. The lights just stay on!

Incoming power goes to the gold screws, power to each fixture goes to the black screws. You have it wired incorrectly.

Unless I am misunderstanding, your lefts and rights are swapped?

I see HouseHelper figured it out before I could finish posting. I am slow!
