Bathroom light fixture-ground wire?

I am trying to remove my light fixture. Is this green wire the ground? How do I remove it? Also-when I go to install my new fixture it says to mount it on the outlet box which I don't appear to have. Do I buy this seperatly?

I have attached a pic and will post another shortly. Thank you for any help!

The green wire from the old/new fixture should be attached to the bare ground wire. They are likely wrapped together and capped inside The box. That metal box IS your outlet box.

You could clip the old ground off the fixture and splice it to the new ground.

You have one issue allready which I can see on the right side of the junction box is the NM cable is fished top of the junction box that need to be addressed.

Second thing look like the junction box is just about over crowed so you will need a larger junction box there.

Merci,
Marc
