Bathroom fan replacement

I am helping a friend replace a bathroom fan. The old fan was a light and fan combo. The new unit is just a fan.

The challenge is there are two switches in the wall. One turns on the lights above the vanity and the fan. The other the light in the fan unit.

We want to wire it so one switch turns on the fan. The other the vanity light.

I've determined which wire leads to the fan unit and which is the hot lead into the box. But there are two additional wires that come in... Trying to figure out what needs to be separated.

Help!

You need to find out if the daisy chained the vanity and the fan. If they did there's no way to do what you want without pulling wire. You'll need to identify the wires at the fan/light location, and the vanity.

Bathroom fan replacement

In the attic I can see a wire that goes to the vanity light and the one to the fan is a different color so easy to identify. I think they linked things where all the wires come in to the switch box. After studying I think I may know what to do.

I think the left wire and the one next to it are the vanity light circuit and the third wire and the one on the far right would complete the fan circuit.
